Raised as a global citizen traveling the world with his family, Brian Kershisnik experienced a life full of music, food, lively conversations and treasures from many cultures, all of which helped to shape him into the talented artist he is today. While he enjoyed drawing for his own entertainment as a child, it wasn’t until after trying his hand at pottery in college that he discovered painting, which changed everything.

With an inspiring new career in art ahead of him, Brian looked to the beauty he found in Utah, his home amid his travels as a youth and during his early adulthood. His studio in an old dance hall in Kanosh, Utah serves to house his works, in addition to multiple collections around the world. Each piece is crafted from his authenticity as he says, If my work is to ever be important… it will be because what I found to be authentically important to me, is, or becomes, authentically important to many others."

Brian focuses on connection, yet leaves interpretation up to the viewer. He says "People have a host of reasons for why they connect to artwork. When I am done with a piece, I feel like I become a spectator, just like you. Little more. Of course, conversations about my work emerge often, but if I am not careful about how much I reveal my own intentions, I run the danger of closing the door on what the painting can mean to you or anyone else. I will talk about the experience of painting or discuss ideas of possible meanings, but frankly, I believe that if artists will delve deeply and truly enough into their own experience, then they are usually talking about aspects of everyone’s experience. What you take away from the painting is every bit as legitimate as what I intended, possibly more legitimate than what I intended."
